He was a blacksmith, resided in East Braintree in a house still standing on Commercial St. east of the Jonas Perkins School, where his daughter afterwards conducted a school for young ladies still remembered by some Braintree residents at the W. corner of Faxon St. called Monatiquot Seminary.

He was a cordwainer & Tanner. Removed to Pembroke about 1747. He was elected hogreave 1735,1739, surveyor of highways 1741, tithingman 1743. Resided until 1747 on N.E. end of his father's homestead where he built a house still standing, but much altered, on Common St. just west of the river crossing, later occupied by the Veazie family to whom he sold.

He was a Revolutionary Soldier, farmer, and boot maker. Resided on part of the original homestead on present Granite St. in Braintree, on west side. He was elected hogreave 1773. Resided on his father's place, Granite St., Braintree, but removed to Quincy 1792. James Faxon Jr. & Family were warned out of Quincy Jan.25,1793 as customary to new residents.

He was an agriculturalist and market man in Boston where he owned and managed a stall in the Quincy Market in Boston. In 1812?? he purchased a farm in Quincy from Thomas Pratt where he resided the rest of his life, the house of which is still standing south of Water St., near Quincy Ave., now owned by his heirs of his grandson Henry Hardwick Faxon (1950). He was a yeoman in 1850 census.

He was elected field driver 1696, fenceviewer 1702,1708, constable 1709, surveyor of highways 1716, tithingman 1717, fenceviewer 1719, selectman 1722. Resided in a house near the Thomas1 Faxon place, but north of the brook, standing until 1890's and the cellar hole was visible in 1940 but now (1948) obliterated by new house and streets.
S.P.30-300: Division of estate, Mar.26,1734 by Samuel Bass, John Thayer, Peter Adams, Richard Faxon.
To widow Mehitable 12 a. pasture at east end & 24 a. wood & swamp adjoining called Faxon's meadow.
