It is quite probable that the Peter Dyer who married Thankful Thayer in 1777 is the father of this Peter Dyer/Hayden. His mother (Hannah Hayden) died single, according to Sprague. [Frank Dyer]
Gravestone has died April 18, 1851, Dyer Hill Cem., Braintree.
Frank A. Bates (Deaths in Braintree) has March 20, 1851, age 74.

He was a farmer in 1850 census, usually called Peter Dyer, but also was taxed as Peter Hayden, or Peter Dyer Hayden says S.A. Bates. Resided on Dyer Hill, probably in a house of his grandfather Hayden's. His widow & son William lived in the "Cabot house" (1850 map) on E. side opposite old Washington St. at foot of Dyer Hill.
