He was in the shoe and boot business with his brother Adam and built a house about 1830 on Franklin St., west side opposite his brother and north of the Adams birthplace. It is still standing (1952) but a bit altered in the last few years. He was a boot manufacturer in 1850 census.

They were admitted to Middle Parish Church Oct.26,1735. He was fenceviewer 1733, tithingman 1735,1740, selectman 1750. He lived on his father's estate on Penn's Hill one half of which was willed to him, and no disposal of the estate is on record but it was occupied jointly by his sons Samuel & Adam.

He resided on Franklin St. Pervis Hill on part of the ancestral land south of High St. in the family since 1678. He also was in the shoe business manufacturing custom made boots with his older brothers at the factory on Pearl St., but retired about 1885 when the business declined.

died (Oct.29,1807 a. 92, Randolph Ch.Rec.), Nov.3,1807 a. 92, gs., Old Cem., East Stoughton, now Avon, East Main St.
They resided in East Stoughton, now Avon, on Central St., later on East Main St., south of the old cemetery. He was in the French War in 1759 but was a Tory during the Rev. War and was sent on board the guard ship "Adams" and after the war he spent some time at or near Bangor, Penobscot, Me., but returned to Stoughton, where he signed deeds in 1781,1784,1792 and 1794. He was a soldier at Braintree April 1759 a. 42 (Reg. Vol.15).
