Maj. Crosby was a prominent man in town affairs, held many offices including that of Representative. He resided on Adams St. Quincy just a few rods N.E. of the present Eventide Home where the "Brackett House" now stands. He also had an Inn that stood on Adams St. in front of the present Eventide Home which he willed to his daughter Mary Adams. This last house, or its successor, was moved to Arlington St. Wollaston south of Brook St. where it now (1950) stands, when Wm. B. Rice built his house on the Adams St. about 1871. He had a large estate that included all of Wollaston Hill as far north as Sachem's Brook and considerably to the east of present Hancock St. The house which he willed to his daughter Abigail Bass may be the one yet standing (1950) at 7 Blake St. east of Hancock St. at the extreme northern end of this large estate. A good plan of the estate is in the Warren S. Parker collection at the Quincy Public Library.
Abigail Adams, his first wife, was daughter of Zachariah Adams, not dau. of Abraham as said in New York Gen. & Bio. Rec. Vol.58. See American Genealogist Vol.30 pp. 70-71.
