Stephen Crane and wife Mary were admitted to Milton Church Sep.3,1694. He lived on his father's homestead on the line between present Quincy and Milton on Adams St. and probably built a house on the Quincy side about 1685 since after this time the children are recorded at Braintree (Quincy), though all baptized at Milton Church, and he served from Braintree on a committee to run the line between Braintree & Dorchester in 1700 and the committee met at his house in 1703.

In 1691 he and John Jordan leased 700 acres of the Blue Hill lands from the town of Boston for 11 years, and in 1700 the Selectman of Boston brought suit against them at the time the lands were sold to 100 Braintree proprietors. The 700 acres were in the N.W. corner of the present town of Randolph (Early Court Rec. #4804).
