He was a hat maker of Boston in 1773, where some of the children were probably born. (S.D.175-200). He was a Revolutionary Soldier. Resided on Commercial St., south side, next & east of Rev. Jonas Perkins who lived where school house now is. He was on the Fish Committee 1781,1789,1790,1791, surveyor of highways 1785, assizor of bread 1785,1786, sealer of wood 1788,1789,1791,1792. He was apprenticed to Lt. Samuel White who died in 1766.

He was elected hogreave 1772, assizer of bread 1775, on the Fish & Alewife Committee 1777,1780,1783-6,1791, surveyor of highways 1781 for Middle Precinct and warden 1787 & 1791.
Erected a grist mill on the river, later Welch's mill, built about 1790

Lived near present E. Braintree R.R. Station and built a new house in 1760; still standing (1950's) on Commercial St., East of Allen St.

He was elected fenceviewer 1737 and 1744 for Middle Precinct, hogreave for Middle Precinct 1738, was on the Fish Comm. 1741,1756, tithingman 1743,1746, surveyor of highways 1748, selectman 1751-1755 inc., and moderator 1760.

S.P. 58-413, May 22,1761: Mary Allen widow of James Penniman, gent. made administrator of Thomas Allen, gent., with Samuel Bass, & Samuel White.

59-495 Inventory: a pew in the meeting house, the homestead £595/13/4, a remote pasture £111. goods delivered to Molly & Elizabeth Allen, not receipted for etc. Total £1150/5/2, Jan.1,1762, taken by Samuel Niles Jr., Jonathan Allen, William White.
