"son of Rev. Peter Clark of Salem and grandson of Dea. Peter Hobart", says the gravestone.
He was a selectman at Braintree 1746. He graduated at Harvard in 1739.
Division of Peter Clark estate Sep.18,1765 (S.D.887) To Peter, eldest son 14a. 24 rods & Bldgs., E. on Monatiquot River, etc. To John, youngest son, remainder of homestead 6a. 30 rods. To Deborah Clark, a dau., 10a. cedar swamp.
He built in 1747 the old house now standing but mostly altered on Soper House Lane, running east from Washington St. near Hollis Ave.

He was elected fenceviewer 1750, constable 1752. He was voted "inimical to the United States" in 1777 by the town. Resided in the vicinity of South St., Quincy. Benjamin Cleverly and son furnished timber to enlarge Christ Church 1773 (Ch.Rec.).
