JOHN' OTIS was born at Glastonbury, county of Somerset England, near 1581; died at Weymouth, 31 May, 1657, aged 76 years. He first settled ' New E land at Hingham with Rev. Peter Hobart 'See Lincoln's Hingham Genealogies, Hobart's Company in 1635. 101), and removed to Weymouth about 1654. He married (1) *in England, Margaret -, who died at.Hingham, 28 June, 1653. He married (2), near 1654, Elizabeth (-) Stream, widow of John Stream of Hingham and of Weymouth. The lands of the Widow Stream are referred to in the Weymouth Grants to Angell Hollard and Richard Webb, and a grant was made to the Widow Stream, 3 Feb. 1651-52. (Weymouth Land Grants, 257, 262, 282.) Five acres were granted to Widow Otis, 14 Dec. 1663, in the First Division and fifteen acres in the Second Division. (Ibid. 282, 283.) John Otis of Weymouth made his will 30 May, 1657, and it was probated 28 July, 1657. To his daughter Margaret Burton and her three children 20s, To his daughter Hannah Gile household utensils. To Mary Gile a cow. To Thomas Gile, Jr., a musket. To his daughters Anne and Alice 5s. apiece. To his wife 40s. His son John Otis to be executor. Witnesses: John Rogers and Thomas Dyer. Robert Randall married 1st Mary ( ) prob in England. 2 boys; then married 2nd Mary French, living in 1679, died bef 1691; 2 girls. He came to this country between 1630-35 and settled in Weymouth. Occupation: Owned large tracts of land; admit freeman of Colony 26th May 1647. Lived for some time in Wendover, Bucks, England, but his birthplace is unknown at present. Probably all his children were born in this country. A legend on a Randall coat of arms "Nil extra numerum" which is nothing except numbers, claiming to be a numerous family. (Randall Gen.)

Dorothy Louise (Randall) Williams has a copy of "A Biographical History of Robert Randall and his Descendants, 1608-1909" (Chaffin, William L.)

He had three lots granted to him "in the East field," and seven acres in the First Division, and twenty-one acres in the Second Division, the latter granted 14th Dec. 1663. (Weymouth Land Grants, 258, 293.)

Robert Randall of Weymouth, "being weake of body," made his will 27th March 1691, and it was probated 25th May, 1691. To his eldest son John he gave several lots, one "in the Range Field," another in the First Division. To his youngest son Thomas he gave his dwelling house, etc. To his daughters Mary, wife of Abraham Staples of Mendon, and Hannah, wife of John Warfield of Mendon, to each Es. Son John to be executor. Witnesses: Mary Vining, Joseph Dyer and William Chard. Inventory taken 16th May, 1691, by John Shaw and Joseph Dyer. (Suffolk Probate, 8: 41, 42.)
ROBERT RANDALL came from Wendover, county of Bucks, England, to Weymouth before 1640. He was born near 1608 and died at Weymouth, 3 May, 1691.

He deposed 2 July, 1688, that he aged Eighty yeares or thereabouts, " and that he was living for u S within the Realm of -,me time in Wendover in the county of Bucks~ ... and did well know Enoch Hunt of Titenden in the parish ,76'aena out two miles distant from Wendover," etc. (Massachusetts State Archives, 129: 16,) The parish registers of Wendover begin in 1632, and a careful search of them revealed no trace of any person of the name Randall. He married (1) Mary -, who was buried at Weymouth, 3 Sept. 1640. He married (2) Mary French, sister of Stephen French, who calls her "my sister Mary Randall' in his will in 1679. He was admitted a freeman of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, 26 May, 1647. Birth certificate for James Henderson Farrier lists William Richardson Farrier (Mary Cook Farrier's father) as the father. This is not true. His grandfather didn't want his grandson's birth certificate to have a blank space for the father and insisted his name be entered.
