He graduated at Harvard Coll. 1804, studied medicine under Dr. Ebenezer Alden Sr. of Randolph and resided there until 1813 when he returned to Braintree, resided on Washington St. where Thayer Academy stands. His brother in law Gen. Sylvanus Thayer resided with him when in Braintree and the house was moved to the east side of street and used as the principal's residence when Thayer Academy was built.

Widow Eunice Sawin is in 1850 census at Randolph, joined Randolph church in 1812.
