He married Mary - who apparently died before her husband, since there is no settlement of the estate which reverted to his father who outlived him by some months. He was a blacksmith, lived on present No. Main St. in Randolph, later at Brookville in Holbrook as shown by deeds.

He joined the So. Precinct Church in 1739 and Mary, wife of Samuel Wales owned the covenant in 1755 and was admitted to full communion in 1761.

He was elected hogreaves 1746, surveyor of highways 1753, warden in 1761, and surveyor of highways again 1762,1765. In 1773 a Samuel Wales was in the militia (Register Vol.27 p.57) but this may have been Samuel Wales of Dorchester. His gravestone, however calls him Lieut. Along with the unrecorded will of his father, an unrecorded inventory of Samuel Wales estate is in the Wales Family Assn. papers at the N.E.H.G. Society in Boston. It was taken Mar.14,1775, showing 95 acres and buildings, salt marsh, blacksmith tools etc. Also a copy of an indenture stating that "Margaret Burjast of Boston, singlewoman, have placed and do by these presents hereby place and bind out my only daughter whose name is Ann Ginnins, to be an apprentice unto Samuel Wales (and his wife) of Braintree, blacksmith, for 16 years 3 months and 23 days, commencing Nov.3,1753. Margaret Burgis, her mark
