He probably resided on his father's homestead. He died intestate and widow Susanna was made administrator Apr.1,1707 (S.P. 5-554, N.S.). The inventory taken Apr.23,1706 was presented also Apr.1,1707.

He was a Revolutionary Soldier 1776-8, and his widow applied for a pension in 1838, aged 74, and stated he served three years at Castle William, that they were married Jul.17,1783 etc.
She joined the church at Randolph in 1795. He left a will but it was rejected by the court as he was said to be incompetent at the time it was made. He resided on the farm he bought of his brother Levi on North St. Randolph in 1808 when the latter removed to Vermont. The widow's dower was set off and division was made to Samuel, eldest son, to Lilly Thayer wife of Levi Thayer, only daughter, and to Amasa Thayer, youngest son. He was elected sealer of leather 1792 (So. Precinct).

died single. Was a farm hand and hired man about town, became mentally irresponsible, and had a guardian appointed before his death. Listed as a farmer in 1850 census, resided with Samuel V. Arnold on Washington St. or Soper House Lane.

He was a Revolutionary soldier in 1775 and his widow Esther applied for a pension in Aug.1838 a.76 of Wrentham (W.20086). He resided on Peach St., south side in a house still standing (1950) known as the birth place of his son Elisha Thayer who compiled the Thayer Memorial, published in 1835. In 1809 they removed to Wrentham. His will dated Aug.9,1813, proved Apr.16,1816 mentions wife Esther and children Samuel White, Elisha, Esther, Mary, Ezra, Silas, Susanna & Silvanus (N.P.27-187).
