Neither he nor his children are on record at Braintree, but he lived in present Randolph and sold his house and barn "on the road from Randolph meeting house to Milton" (North Main St.) to his son Oliver Thayer Jr. Mar.13,1813. They removed from town soon after; but where to?

He was a Revolutionary soldier 1775, and his widow applied for a pension in 1838, aged 86 (W.14002).
He resided on Plain St. where William Salisbury sold him "the dwelling house where I now live, and barn, both of which I built upon land that came to me by wife Lydia, deceased; Dec.1,1785 (S.D.159-263).
He died intestate and Stephen Thayer of Boston, a son was made administrator of Philip Thayer who died leaving a widow and three children, and representatives of a deceased child, Feb.5,1833 (N.P.58-233).
He was elected fire warden 1782-4, surveyor of highways 1782 for Middle Precinct

Phineas Thayer and wife Anna joined the Randolph Church 1799, and she was dismissed to the new East Parish in 1819. He died intestate and the widow was made administrator Apr.4,1815 after her dower was set off the remainder was divided Feb.3,1816 to Tirzah wife of Nathaniel Belcher Jr., to Sally wife of Zenah Thayer, to Nancy wife of Laban Pratt, to Silence wife of Benjamin Pratt, to Silvah wife of Robert Pratt, to Elisha Holbrook as guardian of Richmond, Emerson, Lena, and Mary Thayer, deceased (N.P. 25-390, 27-11).

On Apr.23,1844 the widow's dower was quit claimed to Emerson Thayer of Braintree by the other heirs who then were Nathaniel Belcher & Tirzah, Robert Pratt and Silvey of Braintree, Zenas Thayer and Sally of No. Bridgewater, Alpheus Hunt & Luea of Quincy, Daniel Dyer & Sophia, Atherton Pratt of Weymouth (& wife Margaret), Abram Pratt (& wife Hannah V.), Elisha W. Thayer (& wife Mary Ann), Susan Pratt of Randolph, Jason Pratt of Braintree (& wife Susanna), "yeomens & seamstresses".
