1st cousins twice removed
Whether Ebenezer Hayden & Rebecca (Staples) (French) Tower were married after their publishment is hard to say, perhaps not as her death is recorded Jan. 25, 1801 a. 86 as "The widow of John Tower"

Fannie was born illigitimate.
The story that I had been told says that her mother Maryetta Gottfried had been walking down a dirt road when a man driving a buggy had forced her off the road then had proceded in taking her to a woodeda rea where raped her. This had been told to me by a distant cousin of the Gottfried's and had been passed down thru their generations. It had been told to scare young girls so they would not go out at night or go out by themselves.
Now the remainder of the story goes that Abraham Steiner had been visiting and had told Maryetta that if she would keep his home clean, cook for him, he would marry her and take her child as his own.
