He was elected fenceviewer 1693, field driver 1694, surveyor 1698-9,1702-3, tithingman 1710-11. Resided on South St. Quincy just south of present Southern Artery, in a house standing until near 1925. He was elected fenceviewer "for the fore field" 1693, and fenceviewer 1696,98,1707,1718, hayward "for the town" (Quincy) 1694, surveyor of highways for same 1699, and in 1703,1706, tithingman 1711.
S.P.24-95 - Will of Peter2 Newcomb "being grown into years" Apr.8,1725 - Jun.10,1725:
To son Jonathan, meadow land.
To son Peter west end of house etc. which he now liveth in, & orchard & 1 end of barn.
To son Richard land bought of Mr. Hobart etc. & other 1/2 of house, which I now live in, wife to live in while a widow & other end of barn.
To heirs of dau. Susannah Hobart, To dau. Sarah Hobart, To dau. Rachel Everett £10.
To wife Mary use of house etc. for life.
To Jonathan, Peter & Richard all my purchase lands.

N.S.20-78 - Administration to widow Mary, May 11,1738 & she was bonded with Samuel Tompson, tailor & John Haines, husbandman, and she died soon & administration given to son Peter.
N.S.20-80 - Peter Newcomb of Pauteuxit, Rhode Island, distiller, administrator d.b.n., with Joseph Pray & Benjamin Cleverly, boatmen, of Braintree, Feb.22,1744(5).
33-483 - She left a will, Mar.21,1738 - May 9,1738 giving to son Jonas Humphrey of Weymouth all lands; to dau. Mary Newcomb & her dau. Susanna, goods; to grandson Peter N., money; to grandson Jedediah N. all land that fell to me at death of my son Richard N. & part of house & barn; to grandson Richard N. £10. To grand dau. Susanna Newcomb.
Wit: John Hains, Mary Hains, Samuel Tompson.

He removed in 1734 to Providence, Rhode Island where he bought land there, and was made freeman of Rhode Island in 1740. In 1744(5) he was called of Pauteuxit, a distiller, when made administrator d.b.n. of his father's estate. He was elected hogreave in 1724, constable in 1729 but was excused, and surveyor of highways 1732.
S.P. N.S. 70-80 - Peter Newcomb of Pawteuxit, Rhode Island, distiller, made administrator d.b.n. of father Peter's estate, Feb.22,1744(5) & bonded with Joseph Pray & Benjamin Cleverly, boatmen, both of Braintree. Witness: Richard Payne, John Payne.

"Possibly" dau. of John(3) & Mary Newcomb
The Milton Vital Records give the marriage Dec.8,1738 of Peter Duset and Ruth Newcomb. Who she was is not known but possibly a daughter of John3 Newcomb and second wife Mary who had been widow of Ephraim Arnold and of Thomas Copeland who died in 1706.
