He resided in the section at south end of South St. Quincy, sometimes called Newcomb's Landing, and sold his homestead in 1714 & 1715 to Grandson Samuel Copeland. His land was west of Ship Cove or Newcomb's Landing.
In 1708 when the town was divided into two parishes the division was to begin at "John Newcomb Sr. at the head of Ship Cove, taking in his living to ye south end." He deposed Oct.31,1682 aged about 48 years (Court Rec.# 2126).
He and John Jr. were paid by the town 1702-4 for keeping Abigail Neale whose medical expenses were paid by the town.

Aunt Newcomb died Jun.1697 according to the Diary of John Marshall Sr. if Ruth Newcomb was his own aunt, and not the sister of his mother whose name was also Ruth.

S.P.22-560 - Will of John Newcomb, May 13,1721 - Jun.11,1722: "being aged & full of days."
To wife Elizabeth £20, she having promised to acquit my estate, to be paid by my son John & grandson Samuel Copeland.
To son John 5/ as he had a double portion already.
To grandson Samuel son of son Samuel deceased 5/ as son Samuel had his portion.
To son in law Richard Davenport 5/ as she had more than her sisters so far.
To little grand dau. Abigail Kingman my biggest chest and what is given to my wife including a bed, to be divided among my children at her decease.
