who Departed this life September the 9 1774,
aged 44 Years.
An honest man is the noblest work of God.

He was elected surveyor of highways 1758,1760,1761,63,65,69,72, constable 1768 but excused.

S.P.74-138, Oct.14,1774: Prudence Baxter widow made administrator of Daniel & bonded with Joseph Baxter, cordwainer & Seth Spear.

74-307, Feb.17,1775: Seth Spear to take administration on Daniel Baxter, a former adm. being revoked & bonded with James Brackett Jr. of Braintree & Stephen Dyer of Weymouth, yeoman.

74-308 Inventory: 11 acres homestead house & barn, 14 a. upland on Westerly part of said lands, 9 acres salt marsh, & includes 50 sheep upon Pettick Island, a "rowe" boat, pew in No. meeting house, £556/6/. Feb.17,1775, presented by Seth Spear, attorney to the administratrix.

76-33, Mar.21,1777: Prudence Baxter widow made administrator of husband Daniel Baxter, yeoman, bonded with James Brackett Jr. & Seth Spear.

76-36, Mar.28,1777: Widow Prudence made guardian of Relief, under 14, (sic) Daniel, over 14, Elizabeth, over 14, children of Daniel Baxter & bonded with James Brackett Jr. & Seth Spear.

75-487, Inventory again, calls it 11 acres homestead, 14 acres, etc. Mar.27,1777.

80-74, Inventory again, calls it 11 a. homestead, 16 a. upland & meadow & a small barn at Thayer's Island, 2 1/2 a. salt marsh on E. side of said farm, 3/4 a. at the casway, & 3 a. on S. side of casway and a pew, etc. Set off to the widow 5 a. at N. end of the 11 a., 2 1/2 a salt meadow & 1/2 the dwelling house, the N. end. Mar.15,1781, £449/18/4. Daniel the second son wants real estate with the consent of the eldest son & is to pay the widow etc. to eldest son Edward W. & to Daniel, Elizabeth, Relief, Prudence, William, Sarah, & Esther, or legal representatives after decease of widow - Mar.16,1781.

died Jan.1,1885, gs. Mt. Wollaston Cem., Quincy (Tomb, 1850, Hancock Cem.) (vacant?).
He was a trader, or merchant, was a butcher in 1850 census, lived on School St. opposite Franklin St. at west corner of present parking way where he built a Greek Revival house in 1858, demolished about 1948, on site of his father's house which was removed to Water or Phipps St. He came up from Washington St. to School St. to live in 1836.

He was elected deacon of First Church Jul.21,1844, was a boot maker in 1850, lived on Washington St. at west corner of River St.

died Oct.25,1823 a. 67 at Quincy (Ch.Rec) "Returning from Bent's Point in the evening, lost his way homewards and was found dead next morning on the meadow of his uncle, Joseph Baxter".
