Samuel Bass Jr. was surveyor of highways 1757 in No. Precinct,1760,62,68, tithingman 1764,1773, Samuel 1776, Ensign Samuel surveyor 1778, No. Precinct, fence viewer 1782, assessor 1783,84,85,87. Lt. Samuel constable 1788, No. Precinct but refused it. Samuel Bass Jr., innholder, licensed to sell liquor 1761, No. Precinct. Samuel Bass was surveyor of highways 1786,1791 (No. Prec.), fence viewer 1788,1789 (No. Precinct).
In 1759 he bought part of the former Ebenezer Crosby estate and in 1769 his wife Abigail inherited the remainder of her father's will. Resided on present Hancock St. between Beach & Bass Sts. Wollaston or in the former Ebenezer Crosby house a little further north.

S.P.51-739-41: Samuel Bass, yeoman made guardian of Samuel, Edward, Mary & - Bass his children, all under 14, in estate of their grandmother, widow Mary Rawson, Nov.12,1756.

To sister Deborah Webb £2/13/4 as a token of my love if she survive me. To wife Christian improvement of front end of dwelling house next the street, the kitchen, yard room & well & pump and use of my negro woman Mariah, 1/3 household goods for life & £266/13/4. To son Daniel £40. My pew in South Brick Meeting house for use of the family & my half tomb in South Burying place for family & posterity. He was made freeman of the colony May 6,1685.

Samuel Bass owned the covenant before 1683 and his wife Rebecca was admitted to full communion Nov.2,1684 and he on Apr.12,1685. He was called Samuel Bass "carpenter", to distinguish from his cousin Samuel, "cooper". He was fenceviewer for Stony Field 1693, tithingman 1698,1704,1710, constable 1709 but refused to serve, and again elected 1729.

S.P. 31-153: Will of Samuel Bass "being aged & full of days" dated Oct.31,1726 - proved Oct.30,1732:

To son Samuel besides what already given by deed of gift a single share in 6th lot in Cochato in a ten acre lot as also a fourth lot, in said Cochato.
To son David besides what already given by deed of gift 1/2 the cedar swamp, the 2 acre lot, & my further woodlot containing 6 or 7 acres in the 600 acres adjoining land of John Quincy Esq. on the northerly side & half the woodlot being about 25 acres in whole lot near Bear's Swamp where he has built a house.
To son Seth besides what already given by deed of gift the west end of my dwelling house, 1/2 the cellar, 1/2 barn & hither most woodlot in the 600 acres & other half of the cedar swamp lot being 1 acre, & other half the woodlot lying by Bear Swamp.
To dau. Deborah Webb £10. To dau. Mary Hastings £10. To dau. Anna Moss £10 besides what they had already near £50 apiece. To five daus. Rebecca Bass, Sarah Bass to have £20 apiece besides their share of the moveables and to have a good cow of their own and improvement of E. end of the house 1/2 the cellar & barn and about 3 acres during their single life bounded N.W. on the country road, N.E. on 2 a. son David received of me, S.E. on land of John Beall & Mehitable Fisher, S. on my own pasture and £30 each when they marry paid by son Seth. To my own sons my clothes etc. Sons Samuel, David, & Seth executors. Witness: Wm. Hayden, Abigail Adams, Joseph Parmenter. Abigail Adams deceased before probate of will.
