Resided on Granite St. west side just north of West St. at Five Corners, house still standing (1950). Ran a tavern in his father's old place south of his own & was probably murdered there in 1841 says S.A. Bates.

Resided in Braintree Highlands north of South St. on land he purchased from Benjamin Ludden in 1715. He was elected surveyor of highways 1720, on school committee 1725, constable 1729 but refused it, selectman 1731,1736-41,1745, moderator 1748, on committee to divide the commons 1753.

S.P.60-265 - Will of John Holbrook, dated Feb.24,1761 - proved Apr.16,1762.
To wife Sarah east half of house & 1/3 of homestead for life.
To son John lands where he lives formerly purchased of Benjamin Ludden.
To son Timothy now living in Lebanon, Conn. land in 12th lot.
To son Samuel whole of homestead, house etc. at wife's decease & lands purchased of Benj. Hayward & Nathaniel Thayer, part of the homestead. To dau. Sarah White £26. & to Samuel, Sarah, & Elizabeth Ward children of daughter Elizabeth, deceased £17 at age. To dau. Molly Lincoln £16. To dau. Lucy Holbrook £66. To sons John, Timothy, & Samuel all lands in town of Hardwick. To sons in law Josiah White, Samuel Ward & Josiah Lincoln 19/9.
