After about time of his marriage his name became Howard. Rev. Soldier & she was a pensioner. He was elected hogreave 1773. Resided on father's estate near Orchard & Oak Sts., Randolph. Resided on the corner near Narroway Brook says Dr. Alden, was a farmer & shoemaker

died "William Howard" Mar.26,1696/7. He died at Taunton North Purchase (now Easton). John Marshall's Diary states (Mass Hist Soc. Series 2, Vol. 14 p.22), - 1697 Mar.25 at night came news of Willyam hayward's death, 26, "I went to the North Purchase with Willyam Hayward's friends at night we buried his body."
He was one of the earliest settlers in present Easton where his homestead was a few rods east of Simpson Spring and the cellar hole was visible as late as 1880. After his death his widow returned to Braintree but settled in Easton about 1720 with her family of children by her second husband.
"Hannah Howd", widow, daughter of John Newcomb Sr., owned the covenant at church May 16,1697. He was elected hayward or field driver 1695.

He did not marry Mary Holbrook her sister as often stated by Vinton, Alden & others. He lived at West Corner and in North St. where he died says Dr. Alden.
