He resided in a house built about 1700 which stood near the corner of Shaw & Howard Sts., Braintree and demolished in Jan.1850 a sketch of which is extant, which he deeded to his sons Jonathan & Joshua in 1725 and removed to the South Precinct perhaps.
He was deacon in present First Church of Braintree and in 1756 gave a silver communion cup bearing that date. He also owned a slave named Boston.
Hannah wife of Jonathan Howard admitted to full communion Aug.4,1700.
S.P.52-624 - Administration, Sep.30,1757 given to Jonathan Hayward, a grandson, a tanner.

Resided at the homestead which his son Nathaniel stated was 150 years old when demolished in 1850 and said that "he, his father, and grandfather were all born and died there". Stood near the corner of Howard & Shaw Sts., Braintree, W. Hayward in 1832 map.

Jonathan Marsh Mss. at N.E. Hist. Gen. Society. Bass family records in a copy at Quincy Historical Society says that Hannah (Hayward) Bass was born Feb.29,1735. If so, this is 5 1/2 months after her father's death.

He was elected hogreave 1772,1780, surveyor of highways 1785, hogreave 1787,1789. Lived in the No. Precinct, now Quincy near Common St. on West St. west of Copeland St. south side .
One daughter m - Hiscock and became a widow who lived with parents and taught school in West Quincy.
S.D.110-65 - Sarah Hayward, widow to James Hayward part of house barn & land, Mar.17,1767 and he sold next day to James Brackett, (who had been his guardian).
