He was an innholder in the South Precinct after 1732 on present North St., Randolph lately called the Willard place on west side opposite the large rocks, north of the low ground once known as the slough. No records of death but both were alive in Mar.1754 (S.D. 92-125). He was elected hogreave 1717, fenceviewer 1729, constable 1734 but refused to serve, surveyor of highways 1736,1738 for So. Precinct. He was a partner in the Land Bank of 1740.

John1 Hayden was in Dorchester as early as 1 632 as on Jan.16,1632 he had 16 acres of land granted to him "next the great lo ts towards Neponset", and on Dec.1,1634 has 8 acres granted on Roxbury bounds; also on Apr.17,1635 had 1½ acres of swamp granted him "betwixt the wolf trap an d dead swamp". He sold the land "next to the Roxbury bounds" before Jan.18,1635 , and finally Mar.18,1637 had 4 acres 12 rods of land on the neck, and 3 acres 1 good 12 rods granted him in the Cow Pasture.
He was made freeman of the co lony May 14,1634, was hailed before the General Court and acquitted Jun.6,1639 for keeping an unlicensed servant. He removed to Braintree soon after.
The G eneral Court upon his petition assisted him in the care of distracted child 164 7-1655.
He died near Feb.1681(2) when the inventory of his estate was taken, leaving a will dated Oct.31,1678 and proved Jul.26,1682 mentioning his wife Su sanna "who hath been my faithful companion for many years", and sons Ebenezer, Joseph (to be maintained) Nehemiah, and John, and children of daughter Hannah d eceased, and of son Samuel deceased. His widow Susanna, who was probably Susann a Lyon of Dorchester, died between July 1682 and Oct.3,1684 when her sons John & Jonathan were made administrators. The inventory taken showed an estate of £1 25/13/ and the real estate appraised Apr.4,1695 at £95.
Stile's Hist. of Win dsor, Conn. p.369 states that William Hayden and John Hayden probably brothers came from Hinton Blewet, Co. Somerset, England. This has yet to be proved.

To wife Susanna "who hath been my faithful companion many years" my whole estate except what I have disposed to son Ebenezer, 2 acres upland & 1a. meadow for maintenance of s on Joseph, and if he outlives his mother to be in the hands of executors for hi s support. To son John after my wife's and son Joseph's decease enough to make him equal to his other brethren, and the remainder to be divided between all my children. Children of son Samuel to have a childs portion among them, and the children of my daughter Hannah the same. Confirms to son Nehemiah one end of th e house and the rest as mentioned in an instrument to that end; if he pay £30 h e oweth me.
