Obituary of Gettysburg, Adams Co. PA says descendant of John Paul Jones. He was a former government agent with the alcohol tax unit ofthe U.S. Treasury and later associated with the law firm of Harris,Beach, Keatingetal of Rochester, New York. An, uncle Dr. Elihu Riley was a well known Maryland historian Frances Dorothy Barbehenn's Birth Cert.says mother had 4 prior children all living. Frank was adopted at age 5. Mary Barbehenn was nursing at the Lankenau Hospital and she worte home that the child's mother was dying in the hospital and would have no one to take care of him. She asked if they would takec are of him,they agreed so Henry went to Philadelphia to get him. He was marriedand for many years lived in Rochester, New York. The sons stayed there butthe girls all moved to California with their families. He spent his last years with them in California. He died of cancer of the liver.
SSN 128-07-5018, died after a short illness.
Nieces surviving his death are Mary Barbehenn Keck, Cashtown; Mrs.Kathryn Barbehenn Rightmyer, Mrs. Frank Barbehenn Hower, and Martha Barbehenn who still lived at the Barbehenn home on N. Stratton St.,Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Private Franklin George was drafted in the US Army July 6, 1945 at 27years of age. He went to Camp Dix, New Jersey on July 7th 1945. Hewas transferred to Camp Clairborne, Florida in July of 1945, Med. Det.3860th S.C.U. Station Hospital, Camp Clairborne Florida. Frank wastransferred to Camp Swift, Texas Nov. 1945 1849th S.C.U.RegionalHospital Camp Swift. He was then transferred to Pro. Station Austin,Texas, then Dallas, Texas. He made Private First Class in March of1946. He made Technician April 5th 1946. He was discharged on Aug1 4,1946. No. 42217350. Honorable Discharge (Book 145, Page464) ofFranklin G Barbehenn, serial number 42 217 350, Technician fifth grade3805th area service unit at Fort Dix, New Jersey on Aug 16th 1946 byW. F. Catlin Jr. AC. Date of service July 6th 1945 as Medical Aidman#657.

From Obituary in Gettysburg Times 13 Oct 1944, he died at StrattonStreet in his home at the age of 80 years. He had been bedfast for 17months when he had a stroke. In 1903 he had moved to Martinsburg, WestVirginia where he was the Superintendent of the Gas Works for 9 yearsbefore taking the same job at the Painesville, Ohio plant. He laterreturned to Adams County, in 1921 where he made his home in Ortanna,until 1 year before his death, where he moved back to the family home.He was active in the local market selling mostly flowers and plantsthat he grew. He provided those also to his brother Ed and sisterKatie for their famous distribution to the children of Gettysburg,Pennsylvania. George was an activist in the church at St. JamesLutheran and in the county, organizing Christian endeavor work as wellas teaching Sunday school. At the time of his death he had 6children, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 6 brothers andsisters. Rev. J. B. Baker of York County, Pennsylvania, conducted thefuneral.

1900 age 36 with eight children five living, married for 14 years,working as a gas manufacturer. Owns home without mortage. Lived inPainsville, Ohio til the death of his parents.
After his second marriage, they made their home in the mountains nearOrtanna. He never met her before their wedding, he wooed her by mail.Their common interest was their flowers and plants.
In all, at time of death he had 6 children, 7 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren, and 6 brothers and sisters. Funeral was conducted byRev. J.B. Baker of York County Pennsylvania.

Mr. Stephen Hofmann, of Wurzburg am Main: Henry Peter was born July19th 1826 in Ruckertshausen. He came to America in 1857 and marriedMary Ann Bortner on December 28th 1861 in Gettysburg. He died on June11th 1915. He worked for the Gettysburg Gas Company from 1860 onuntil several years before death. They had nine children eight of whogrew to maturity. In 1879 he stated that at the time he had only oneliving sister, who married William Kappes and was blind when she diedin her home in Gettysburg.
He was a native of Duchy of Nassau in Germany. He had arrived in NewYork August 10th 1857, with a declared intention to become a citizenon October 8th 1860. He took oath and became naturalized in opencourt on September 20th 1864. He signed his name Henry Barbaham.Sheriff's, Deeds, Insolvent Debtors, and Naturalization Docket.
