Nathaniel French 2nd was elected hogreave 1759,1762,1777, surveyor of highways 1769,1770, fenceviewer 1774, was on the Fish Committee 1775,1784-5-6. Lived on east side of Washington St. opposite present Thayer Academy, where son Josiah lived until his death in 1851.

To son Josiah 4 a. of the home place N.& E. on land set off to the widow, S. on Moses French & W. on the road & half of 10 a. of woodland lying in common with Josiah French his uncle, called Wale's lot & half of 5 a. salt marsh in Milton in Penny Ferry meadow lying in common with Benjamin Stetson & 2 a. fresh meadow on the river etc., & 4 a. woodland in great pond lot, W. on the pond etc. & he is to pay Mary £2. To Mary 1 1/2 a. fresh meadow, the long strip & 3 1/2 a. meadow in upper meadow & 4 a. of old pine swamp adjoining Caleb Hobart being part of the same lot.
