He was elected hogreave 1756, surveyor of highways 1758,1774,1779,1786,1787 for So. Precinct and 1791 for South Precinct, fenceviewer 1763, constable 1782 for So. Precinct but refused to serve. Soldier in 1758 (Reg. Vol.15).
He resided on present Center St. in Holbrook near Cochato River and Braintree line on his father's homestead.

S.P.90-621: Esther French, widow made administrator of Joshua French & bonded with Eleazer Beals, yeoman of Braintree & Joshua Beals of Boston, taylor. No date.
