Greenberg, age 82, of Alton, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016, at Belleville Memorial Hospital.He was born December 16, 1933, in Kewanee, IL, the son of Peter R. and Wynona M. (Smith) Greenberg. He married Betty Elaine Hawkins on August 31, 1957 in Alton and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2013.Raymond served in the US Army was a Machine Adjuster with Pro-Pellex for many years. He was a member of Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton and was an avid bowler and a sports fan. He was a very proud grandfather.He is survived by two sons and their wives, Ray and Diane Greenberg, and Joseph and Chris Greenberg, all of Alton; a daughter and her husband, Mildred and Mark Lanham, of Alton; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Andrea and Ryan Leach, Peter and Kayla Greenberg, Katelyn Greenberg, Chloe Greenberg, Anthony Lanham, Amanda Lanham, Elizabeth & Alan Barnett, Megan Lanham, Heather and Keith Gallup, and Nick and Autumn Greenberg; six great-grandchildren, Keigan Gallup, Isabella Greenberg, Haylea Greenberg, Calvin Greenberg, Zoei Greenberg and Noah Greenberg.In addition to his wife, Betty; he is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Marlene Greenberg.Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 pm Thursday May 5, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be 10 am Friday May 6, 2016 with Pastor Aaron Love officiating. .Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Alton with full military rites provided by Alton VFW Post #1308.Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Youth Group in Alton.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements. http://www.riverbender.com/obits/details/raymond-c-greenberg-alton-obituary-11791.cfm
