JERSEYVILLE — Norma Lee Goheen, 84, of Jerseyville, died at 8:55 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at her residence.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on Nov. 29, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Clyde H. and Sophie E. (Reuss) Slaten.
Norma married the love of her life, Ernest "Snooks" Goheen, on May 8, 1948, in Jerseyville, and together they have been blessed and have cherished their 68 years together.
Although they never had biological children, Norma and Snooks were blessed with family that became their children, showering them with love and care as if they were their own. They were enriched with the love they shared with Candy and Denny Tepen, Sandy and Denny Bohannon, all of Jerseyville; Michele "Mick" and Denny Blackorby of Dow, and Robert and Sherrey Dabbs of Grafton; along with their nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter.
She is also survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert Slaten of Dow, and Leland "Pete" and Carol Slaten of Brighton; a sister, Betty Smith of San Diego, California.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special "son," Randy Hill; and three sisters, Doris DeMaestri, Shirley McEvoy and Ruth Slaten.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 20 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association .
